Year 3 is brilliant at Laceby Acres Academy. The children start to become more independent in their own learning. They are guided and supported to become resilient, developing a positive attitude towards their learning. The children further develop their reading fluency as well as focusing on key reading skills to improve their comprehension of what they are reading. They do weekly guided reading sessions which enables them, in time, to be able to read books independently and learn at their own pace.
They learn about 2 and 3 digit numbers, times table fact families, geometry, fractions, measurements and time. We build from concrete resources into pictorial representations, right through to the abstract application of mathematical concepts. We travel back in time to the Stone Age in history, working our way through to the Bronze and Iron Age before looking at more local history about the architecture in Grimsby and why we should preserve our locality. We learn more about the world we live in geographically by studying different biomes and climate zones as well as focusing on the coast we live so close to. We keep very active learning new sports such as tag rugby and hockey. We even learn Spanish as our modern foreign language.
We work extremely hard in Year 3 but we do it by having fun.
Home Learning will available when appropriate.
